Everyone participates in hands-on time to prepare and process products.

Monday, July 31, 2017 – Basics of Home Food Preservation Workshop
1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

 Workshop will include the basics to safely preserve low-acid and high-acid foods at home.
Both boiling water bath canning for high-acid foods (most fruits, acidified and              fermented foods) and pressure canning for low-acid foods (most vegetables, meats, and combination foods) will be covered. Pressure canning is the only safe canning method for preserving foods with naturally low acid levels (pH above 4.6)
Canning techniques using the boiling water bath and dial gauge or weighted gauge     pressure canner will be taught.
Preserving foods at home by freezing to achieve high quality products will also be       covered. Join other participants in practicing these hands-on skills to pressure can       low-acid foods and to freeze your own delicious products at home
