N.C. Cooperative Extension WNC AgOptionsThe 2026 WNC AgOptions grant cycle is now open! Local farmers are eligible to apply for up to $10k in grant funding made available by the NC Tobacco Trust Fund Commission to support farm diversification and expansion projects….with only a 10 percent out-of-pocket cost share.

How to apply:

Attend an informational session (optional). Although not required, attendance provides helpful information and gives applicants the opportunity to ask questions and potentially prepare a stronger application. A session in Cleveland County is being offered at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5 at the County Extension Center located at 130 S. Post Road, Suite 1, Shelby, NC 28152. Other sessions are available throughout western NC later on.

Meet the Intent to Apply deadline. By September 26 by talking with Greg Traywick, County Extension Director, about the project you intend to apply for. You may call (704) 482-4365 to initiate this conversation. Once you have talked about your project and your intent to apply, fill out this form by September 26.

Submit your application. Prior to completing your application, review the Grant Writing Tips on the WNC AgOptions website. Applications must be received by November 14, 2025. Only one application per farm will be accepted.
