Kings Mountain Farmers Market. Fresh. Local. Friendly.N.C. Cooperative Extension partnered with Davidson Association and a team of community volunteers to launch a new farmers’ market in Kings Mountain. The market will operate every Saturday from 8 a.m. until 12 noon during June through August. It is located in the former Wells Fargo bank parking lot at 125 S. Battleground Avenue.

Organized under the Foothills Farmers’ Market umbrella, the new satellite provides customer access to an assortment of food produced within 50 miles of Cleveland County. Nineteen vendors participated in the market’s grand opening on June 3, offering an assortment of fresh produce, meat, eggs, honey, molasses, grits, cornmeal, value-added foods, plants, cut flowers, and other items. Customer foot traffic was steady, generating $6,000 in sales for local farmers and food-based businesses.

Mariah van Kleef shared her distinct musical style, and local artist Jeffrey Bowers spent the morning capturing the essence of the market in a beautiful acrylic painting. The new market received critical start-up funding from Cleveland County and the Kings Mountain Rotary Club. The City of Kings Mountain is proving ongoing in-kind support services.

We are continuing to receive vendor applications and expect even a more abundant and diverse supply of farm-raised and handmade products as the season progresses.
