The Broad River Grandparents Raising Grandchildren & Kinship Care Support Program, coordinated by NC State Extension with direction from a multi-agency advisory board and funding provided by the Foothills Regional Commission, works to:
The program usually meets at 6:30 PM on the third Thursday of each month at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Cleveland County Center, 130 S. Post Road, Suite 1, Shelby, NC 28152. Children are welcome to attend, and are engaged in age-appropriate learning activities while their caregivers meet separately.
- Provide ongoing support and education to grandparents and other family members providing kinship care to children.
- Provide kinship care families with information and access to services.
- Promote stability within kinship care families.
