Private & Commercial Pesticide Applicators Safety Training for Landscape & Nursery Professionals - June 9, 2008 Training provided by NCSU Industrial Extension Service will provide 1 hr. credit for categories, N, O, D and X. Do you want to reduce or minimize the potential for injuries at your organization? Attend this 2-3 hour training at no cost, and you and your remployees will learn safe practices for: *working with pesticides and other chemicals *wearing appropriate personal protective equipment *lifting and safe work practices *working in hot environments and near roadways *working with chainsaws and other equipment *managing and working in a safety and health management system This training will be offered in English and Spanish Herbicide Use and Safety in the Landscape (Course Code 487001) - June 16, 2008 Video-based training program approved for 2 hrs. credit in categories H, L, N, D and X. Pesticide Safety: Minimal Risk to the Applicator/Minimal Risk to the Environment (Course Code 487004) - June 26, 2008 Video or DVD-based training program approved for 2 hrs. credit for all ground commercial categories and X. Private Safety (Course Code 045120) - July 14, 2008 Provides 2 hrs. credit for private applicators for category V. Private Safety (Course Code 045120) - August 10, 2008 Provides 2 hrs. credit for private applicators for category V. With the exception of the June 9 Safety Training, all classes will be conducted from 6-9 PM in the Extension auditorium of the County Office Building, located at 130 S. Post Road in Shelby (across from Cleveland Community College). there is no cost to attend, and you do not need to pre-register. Please bring your current commercial applicators license or private applicators certificate with you so that you can enter your number on the attendance roster. Pesticide Collection Day - June 4, 2008 Please note that we will host a Pesticide Collection Day, June 4, 2008 at the back of the County Extension Center on Post Road in Shelby from 10 AM until 2 PM . We will accept all types of outdated, discontinued, or otherwise unwanted pesticides as long as they are identified (original labeled container preferred). The collection day is open to farmers, municipalities, landscape & nursery professionals and the general public. Servsafe ServSafe is a 16-hour Food Safety Certification Course, which teaches cost-effective food safety practices for your operation. The certification course is for foodservice managers, supervisors and other personnel in restaurants, hospitals, nursing homes, child-care facilities, school cafeterias and other food-handling establishments. The classes will be held Monday, May 19th through Thursday, May 22nd from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. The Exam will be Tuesday, May 27th at 9:00 am. The cost is $105.00 per participant (includes 5th edition book, exam, certificate and refreshments).
